Legacy of Economic Thought in Vidarbha

Vidarbha Economics Council was established in 1970–71 in Nagpur. It is the oldest association of professors of economics in Central India. Since its establishment, the Council has been organizing annual conferences regularly at various places in Vidarbha.

In 2007–08, the Council initiated its research journal Arthamimansa . The first volume was published in 2008 at the annual conference held at Anjangaon Surji (District Amravati).

Arthamimamsa is a bi-annual (half-yearly) research journal that has been published regularly since its inception, providing a platform for academic and policy-oriented discussions.

Dr. D. V. Jahagirdar, a distinguished academic and retired professor of economics, has served as the editor since the beginning. The journal publishes articles in Marathi, English, and Hindi.

The journal has received financial assistance from the ICSSR, Regional Centre Mumbai over the last decade, reflecting its academic credibility and contribution.

Arthamimamsa encourages teachers and researchers to publish scholarly work, introduces new theoretical trends, includes Ph.D. thesis summaries, and features critical book reviews.

Special thematic issues covering topics such as the Suresh Tendulkar Committee Report, 14th Finance Commission, Brexit, Minimum Support Price (MSP), Maharashtra Human Development Report, and Commercial Bank Nationalization have been widely appreciated.
